This dish reminds me of winter day in Karachi, that rarely happens. It reminds me of the crisp chilly wind, sitting by the fire with cousins and dipping bread into this glorious delicious dish. It also reminds me of Muharram, a religious event that serves as the New Year in Islamic Calendar and is one of the four sacred months of the year when warfare is forbidden... It is a ritual in our "Kazmi" family, to eat Haleem during Muharram. Where, we usually sit down on the floor on a white dastarkhwan* and eat together with family and friends. (dastarkhwan, its similar to table cloth, the only difference that there is not table! you lay it on the floor, sit and eat on floor.
